What was it like starting a sheep farming business from scratch, even experiencing losses and trauma in the early stages? In this video, we visit Sinergy Farm in Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, a sheep farm founded by Alim Ridho and his colleagues. This business initially emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic, when several of their businesses were impacted, prompting them to explore opportunities in the livestock sector. However, the livestock farming journey wasn't always easy. In the early stages of their sacrificial animal business, they experienced losses. From this experience, they learned that livestock farming is a business full of risks, from feed management and market price fluctuations to livestock health challenges. Over time, Sinergy Farm began to develop a more professional livestock farming system, from selecting stock with clear genetic pedigrees, managing fiber and concentrate feed, and partnering with smallholder farmers. Currently, the farm is capable of managing hundreds of sheep per year, with a daily weight gain (ADG) target of around 150–160 grams per day during the fattening phase.
