Variac as a Treadmill Motor Power Supply Is this Another Budget Option to Power a Treadmill Motor?

Like the PWM power supply and the SCR voltage controller a variac gives you variable output power so you can adjust the speed of a DC motor such as those found in a treadmill. Just like the SCR this power supply requires the use of a bridge rectifier.
