In between doing covers and pouring my entire soul into Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, I've been playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I actually bought it when I bought my copy of Tomodachi Life, because I knew I was going to eventually have to do some music from it. I want to eventually do Edge of Dawn and God Shattering Star (both of which I'll need a good vocalist for), but I was very deliberate in playing the game first. And I've been really enjoying it! It's super charming, even if I'm extremely bad at its battle system. I'm five hours into Golden Deer as of writing, and I just love everything about this game so far! Gotta play a lot more though, eek! Still, can't deny its awesome music! I mentioned about a month ago that I'm starting to get bored of the style I've been doing. It's always been a mix of multiple different styles, namely my FamilyJules influence (which is inherently A7X), and then shoehorning in Periphery. However, this time I wanted to lean completely into my Periphery influences and make one of my djentier covers. The overall structure ended up being inspired vaguely by It's Only Smiles, but there's aspects of a lot of different Periphery songs in this one. I just wanted to make it an epic djent tune, with tons of layers that weren't exclusively guitars; in fact, most of the backing elements were done with VSTs, and I just stacked leads on the main lines with tons of doubles. Altogether, I think this one turned out sick! It's very different from my normal style, but that is absolutely not something worth complaining about. I need to try some different things right now, since I'm getting bored of the usual arrangement style. I know what works, and I've just been doing that for week after week, so it's a little stale to me, especially when I do a lot of these in quick succession.
