Il festival di cinema per registi under 12: «I bambini hanno tanto da dire». E c’è anche Lino
Emma talks about her relationship with horseback riding, her favorite sport. Petra wants to talk about happiness. And Stanislao, a child with tetraparesis, made a short film about his daily "war" involving therapies and exercises. It won him two awards. These are some of the young filmmakers featured in the fifth edition of the Moscerine Film Festival in Rome, the only film festival for directors under 12. "Girls and boys are digital natives, it's true," explains artistic director Nina Baratta, "but they lack the tools. We help them with our association, and the festival is the tip of the iceberg of a very long process. They are used to watching lots of videos on social media, with their parents, and they are used to seeing works created through editing. So much so that many of them are already doing it with smartphone apps, with their families, in elementary school. Creating personal works and short films is the next step in allowing them to express themselves and make themselves heard by us adults." Classes, meetings, and screenings filled the theaters of Rome's Aquila and Broadway cinemas. And this year's technical jury needed a special guest for such young directors: Italy's grandfather, Lino Banfi.
