Serial # 27 | Fine Tool Chest Build
This is a 36” x 16” H x 18” D general tool chest for personal use (non commissioned). 63 total build hours $400 material cost 30BF cherry 6BF Maple 32 hand-cut case dovetails 26 hand-cut half-blind drawer dovetails Sliding dovetail internal construction Veneered drawer fronts Cherry cockbeading on doors and drawers 30 sand-shaded radial fan inlays 5 finish coats This was a test-bed project so that I could practice veneering/inlaying/sand-shading from my class at Heller and Heller Firniture. And while I’m still in the infancy stages of learning these techniques, I’m incredibly happy with the results. This will end-up going under my dovetailing bench as a general tool box to hold veneering tools and my domino joiner. There are a lot of “firsts” for me in this build that I’ve been wanting to try for years. Detailed finished pics on my Instagram @rpbasilio
