Kayaking the Lower James River through Richmond, VA 4.18.26

Lower lap down the Cemetery line from Reedy Creek to 14th St. Air was ~90f, water was ~77f. Hot for this time of year. We took the Cemetery line due to the water being just barely high enough to run that line...probably won't run it again below 4.5' really. On the other side of the river, a man had fallen on the rocks of Belle Island and was swept into the flow. He was found 40mins later, basically as we cleared Cemetery, drowned despite rescuer and other boater's best efforts. A stark remind that nature's beauty should be appreciated and never underestimated. ~4.2ft./2.29kcfs @ Westham gauge (low runnable): https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/rmdv2 Reedy creek to 14th St. (lower lap): https://www.americanwhitewater.org/co...
