Highway 395 to Lake Tahoe (info, fun)

We got invited to a wedding so, what the Hell?! *We'll take the 210 to the 134 to the 5 then up the 14 way out to the 395 (*SNL Californians) Highway 395 is a geologic wonderland, full of strange rock formations, volcanic scars, lava fields, tectonic plate upheaval, not to mention great BBQ! Its no wonder many movies and TV shows were shot out here. Come with us as we briefly explore some of these stops along the way as we drive California's second most beautiful north-south route to the Golden Nugget Hotel, whose casino hooked me out of 300 bucks, then the elevator broke and we humped our luggage down seven floors in a cramped, steamy stairway, along with the UCLA Cheerleading Squad...and they carry a LOT of luggage! (It's a long story)
