Now that the repairs are complete, I'm relieved to find that the bass volume and other aspects are now within a normal range. Until now, I'd been boosting the low frequencies on the tone control by two or three clicks, but I think that this was forcing bass that wasn't there, which probably resulted in strange peaks. In that sense, I'm finally able to reproduce natural bass that's close to the Seven's original sound, and I'm truly relieved. So today, I'll be checking the sound output after the repairs on the vacuum tube preamp Marantz Seven are complete, and reporting on some changes to the drive amplifier and audio system.
