Hardness vs Hardenability, Jominy Test Explained!

In this video, Mal and Stephen discuss the hardenability of carbon steel using the Jominy end quench test per ASTM A255. This test method covers the procedure for determining the hardenability of steel. One end of a cylindrical test specimen 1.0 inch in diameter is quenched using a water jet, then the hardening response is measured as a function of the distance from the quenched end. The detail of the test apparatus and test procedure can be found in ASTM A255.
