Historical Origins According to local genealogical records and legends, the Binh Hai Temple (Upper Temple) worships the three Bach brothers – generals who helped the Hung Kings fight foreign invaders and protect the ancient coastal land of Than Phu. In addition, the people also worship the Holy Tam Giang – a sacred river deity who blesses the crops and lives of the people in the coastal region. After the saints passed away, the people built a temple and held an annual commemorative festival.
