Supported by Dhaka Bank, the festival is aimed at reflecting the nuances of tradition and contemporary culture, through music, crafts, and visual art, in celebration of Bangladesh’s month of independence. This event is part of Bengal Foundation’s continuous endeavour to make the practice and pursuit of Bangladesh’s art and culture more dynamic, accessible and multidimensional. Artist: Mohiuddin Shamim Keyboard: Rabins Chowdhury ----------------------------------------------------------- Shamsur Rahman (1929-2006), who emerged in the latter half of the 20th century, is a key figure in Bengali literature. Major themes in his poetry and writings include liberal humanism, human relations, and the romanticised rebellion of youth. His famous poem ‘Tomake pabar jonno he shadhinota’ is included in the anthology ‘Bondi shibir theke’. Mohiuddin Shamim is a distinguished elocutionist and the General Secretary of Muktodhara Abriti Charcha Kendro. He studied in Jahangirnagar University. A child prodigy in recitation and acting, Shamim rose to prominence in 2009 by winning Bangladesh’s first televised recitation talent hunt on Channel-i. A Grade-A artist for Bangladesh Television, he has received the ‘Brishti-Dola’ medal and several other accolades. .........................................................
