Thrift Flip Project: Copper Leaf

Old metal pieces can be updated in so many ways - even a simple coat of paint is often enough to elevate and refresh them. However, I get asked fairly often about projects using metallic leaf so here is another example. (I've even done my leather shoes over with metal leaf:    • How To Metallic Leaf your Boots   ) I chose not to give the vase a base layer of paint but know that you may want to - especially if working on larger pieces. It is common to use either red or black as a base for copper - the red actually serves to brighten the copper... the black will deepen the tone slightly. I wasn't worried about getting perfect coverage with my leaf since I had no issues with allowing the original aged surface peek through here and there since I was going for an aged look anyway. We carry metallic leaf and leaf glue (sizing) on the website: www.QueenBeeCreationsHome.com but neither is likely difficult to find through your local shops, or check out Amazon: https://amzn.to/4aDHVlr find us on Facebook/Instagram as: QueenBeeCreations1
