DJ Cash Money Real Name: Jerome Hewlett Profile: DJ Cash Money, one of the most famous Hip Hop DJs, hailing from Philadelphia, he began spinning records as a kid and soon found his musical expression by creating dance mixes for his friends and neighbors. He strived to create his own style and a different sound for Philly DJs. Along side his MC, DJ Cash Money & Marvelous created hits such as "The Mighty Hard Rocker" and "All the Ugly People Be Quiet" (1988). DJ Cash Money has competed internationally, winning the prestigious DJ World Championship in the late '80s and being named Greatest DJ in the World. There is no doubting that his greatest achievement came in 1998 when the famous turntable manufacturer Technics decide that the first ever person to be inducted into the DJ Hall of Fame should be Cash Money. He is credited for having a hand in developing the Transformer Scratch. The ever-self-effacing Cash Money credits another DJ, Spinbad, with the invention, but historians/trainspotters of the form say that Cash Money was the one to perfect it. Cash is also credited with creating the Pee Wee Herman scratch and establishing the Chirp scratch, but is also a producer of worldwide repute. He has released a number of albums in his time, but has also produced and remixed tracks for eminent artists such as Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and Public Enemy. A close friend and rival to Hip Hop legend DJ Jazzy Jeff, the pair spent their rise to fame DJing at parties together as “Kings of Spin”. Should you be looking for a DJ that will not only serve up some killer sounds, but will also provide plenty of spectacular visual fun, there really is no one better for the job than the legendary DJ Cash Money. He is one of Hip Hop's World top party rockers and battle DJs. Source: (National Association of Music Merchants Inc), (Wade Kergan - allmusic.com)
