A New Favorite! | North and South Book Talk | BookCravings
This classic book became a favorite of mine. Written by Elizabeth Gaskell in 1855, North and South is the perfect example of a beautiful romance with deep social content. Some people think this book is preachy, but I disagree. Maybe it is slightly preachy, but there is space enough for the reader to judge the ideas and conflicts that are presented. I realized that every time I read a classic that is really good I feel surprised. But to be honest, recently what surprises me the most is a classic book that doesn't have considerable merits, what is pretty rare in my short experience reading them.
