Repurposed Roman Things & MASSIVE CHANNEL ANNOUNCEMENT

From the outside you could think the little church of St. Cuthbert in Cliburn wasn't particularly old. Victorian even. Well, in this video we set out to find the oldest things in the church taking us much further back in time to the days of the nearby Roman forts at Kirkby Thore and Brougham. This video also includes an announcement on the future of the channel. More than that in fact. Research, filming and editing takes days and days per video. I have no other income. I'm passionate about what I do here. But I cannot live off the ad revenue. It is not sufficient. I don't want to change the style of the videos to chase views. Therefore, I do two other things: 1) Memberships: the income from membership fees really helps. In return I try to deliver fun and interesting content for those members. Sometimes negative people accuse me of "hiding content behind a paywall" - that sort of thing - which is factually incorrect. Before I launched memberships this channel produced one video per week and it still does, plus many of those videos are far more ambitious than before. The member exclusive content is all extra. The public offering has in no way been diminished. 2) Sponsorships: I get that this one is contentious for YouTube Premium viewers who are paying to avoid ads. However, ad revenue plus membership revenue does not produce enough income to live off now. So, until that changes sponsors are selected based on "do we/would we" use the products/services and can we speak truthfully about them. Every effort is made to make these segments enjoyable/interesting/nice to look at. In conclusion, if I must get a "proper job" then it will not be possible to continue making these films. This is my passion, but I live in the west. And that means income is required. Please don't assume I'm wealthy because of my age, I am not. If any of these things annoy you, then don't watch this channel. Critical & judgmental comments will be dealt with accordingly and without mercy. ***** Credits WC21 (UK) Productions Ltd theme tune: Keygenerator - Freesound Roman Gazette theme tune: 8-bit Win – Velda – Epidemic Sound For Historical Hikers theme tune: 514178 danlucas – Freesound Compendium of Curiosities theme tune: Underbelly – Epidemic Sound Coastal Catalogue theme tune: Just Like Magic – Epidemic Sound The Time Tunnel theme tune: Micro – Epidemic Sound Non-Celebrity Anglo Saxon Crosses theme tune: Good, Good – Epidemic Sound Horror History Files theme tune: Eerily Distorted Retro Electronic Sound Horror – CapCut The Institute of Amateur YouTube Antiquarians theme tune – Glaze remix of Keygenerator - Freesound All other music: Epidemic Sound Maps: Google Maps; Google Earth; OS Maps, Bing Maps Old Maps: National Library of Scotland https://maps.nls.uk/os/ LiDAR: Phil Barrett, National Library of Scotland https://maps.nls.uk/os/ Main “Broadcaster”: Darren Spratt Advertising and Sponsorships: Mrs. WC21 (UK) Productions Ltd Script Consultant: Jim Murray Cameras DJI Pocket 3 Creator Combo GoPro Hero 12 Creator Edition DJI Flip Frustrated broadcaster and sole trader.
