The Field at Sandaig Rd, Barlanark
The Field at Sandaig Rd, Barlanark that leads onto the Old Manse Road in Mount Vernon via the McWilliams train scrap yard. My brothers and I ( in the late 1960's) would play down in the field and on The Blackey an old slag heap of coal, we would also play on the old railway carriages that awaited dismantling. You would have to pass under the railway bridge that ran the Airdrie to Helensburgh line. We took a trip down today (June 2019), nature has reclaimed back most of the area after the railway bridge, now totally overgrown. It was quite eerie to say the least. But great memories of childhood.
