INTO THE BLUE - Immersive glimpse into the world of Shark Conservationist, Kelsey- Michelle

Shot in Newquay, Cornwall. Archive GoPro footage supplied by Kelsey. Soundtrack by #mobygratis This is a student film. Run time 9:13 minutes. Produced, directed and edited by Simone Steele Director's Statement: When I first met Kelsey, I was struck by her passion for sharks and free diving. While many people view sharks with fear, Kelsey saw them with curiosity and respect. I always felt there was a story worth telling within that relationship. With Into the Blue, I wanted to move beyond a traditional documentary and create an immersive experience that reflected what it feels like to enter Kelsey's world. Rather than focusing solely on information or conservation messaging, the film invites audiences to share in the anticipation, calm and wonder that she experiences beneath the surface. Using authentic archive GoPro footage, original underwater sound and a reflective voice-over, I sought to create a sensory portrait of a woman whose connection to the ocean has shaped her life and career. Set against the Cornish coastline and extending to encounters with sharks in South Africa, the film explores themes of passion, trust, and our relationship with the natural world. Into the Blue is ultimately a film about perspective. By seeing the ocean through Kelsey's eyes, I hope audiences are encouraged to look beyond fear and discover a deeper appreciation for the environment and the creatures that inhabit it. #shark #sharkconservation #marinelife #marineconservation #freediving #studentfilm #documentary #immersive #shortfilm #mobygratis #blueshark #cornwall #cornwallcoast
