Princess Leonor of Spain takes inspiration from Queen Letizia as she chooses a scarlet power suit in Portugal on her first solo trip abroad Princess Leonor of Spain wowed in a red power suit as she travelled to Portugal on her first official solo visit abroad. The royal, 18, stuck with what she knew and took style inspiration from her mother, Queen Letizia - who often sports eye-catching, vibrant ensembles. The heir to the Spanish throne donned a ruby outfit consisting of a crisp button-up blazer and matching flared trousers Not wanting to draw attention away from her bold fashion statement, Leonor stepped out in satin nude heels and wore a simple white t-shirt underneath her jacket. Leonor wore her glossy brunette tresses down in a sophisticated straightened blow-dry and chose to wear full-glam makeup. She stood among staff as she attended the official farewell ceremony at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Minister Jose Manuel Albares, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso and the Mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, all bid farewell to the Princess. The future Queen looked in high spirits for her first official trip away by herself as she was snapped getting into the private jet with a huge smile on her face. Spain's heir to the throne, Princess Leonor, met with Portugal's president in Lisbon on Friday as part of her first official international trip without her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia. At the conclusion of her visit to the Jerónimos Monastery of Santa Maria de Belém, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, accompanied by a cavalry squadron, traveled to the Palácio de Belém, where she was received by His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Accompanied by President Rebelo, they attended the performance of the National Anthems. Princess Leonor received updates from the commander of the honor guard and reviewed a Battalion alongside the aide-de-camp of His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic, the aide-de-camp of His Majesty the King, and the commander of the Battalion. After the review, Princess Leonor was bid farewell by the commander of the Battalion and entered the Palácio de Belém. She greeted the delegations of both countries and was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Christ in the Hall of Ambassadors before having a meeting with His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Portugal's President awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Christ to the Princess of Asturias. The Grand Cross of the Order of Christ of Portugal is a prestigious honor awarded by the Portuguese government. It is bestowed upon individuals, both Portuguese citizens and foreigners, in recognition of exceptional services rendered to the nation or for significant contributions to fields such as politics, culture, or public service. This comes as the next step in the plan for to prepare the teenage Princess for becoming Spain's monarch. Spain's Princess of Asturias, turned 18 on October 31 when she swore allegiance to the country's constitution before lawmakers in parliament. Leonor's constitutional position as heir to the throne means that if her father, King Felipe, were to step down she would become Spain's queen. Princess Leonor’s Portugal trip continued with a visit to the Oceanário de Lisboa. Accompanied by President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa; the CEO of the Oceano Azul Foundation, Tiago Pitta; the CEO of the Oceanário de Lisboa and administrator of the Oceano Azul Foundation, Helena Bento; the scientific coordinator of the Oceanário and board member of the Oceano Azul Foundation, Emanuel Gonçalves; the executive director, Cristina Carranca; and the CEO of the Oceanário de Lisboa, Roque da Cunha; she toured the facilities with marine biologist and educator, Marina Duarte, and attended a meeting and roundtable discussion on Ocean Defense, Scientific Expeditions, and Alignment of Ocean Policy Frameworks and Economy. The Oceano Azul Foundation presented two videos about its activities, "Blue Bio Value" and "Ficosterra." Princess Leonor signed the Honor Book of the Oceanário, thus concluding her visit to the Portuguese Republic, receiving warmth from the public awaiting her departure from the Oceanário de Lisboa. She was bid farewell at Lisbon Airport by the President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who accompanied her throughout her first Official Trip outside of Spain.
