Johnny & Lillie Flynn : The Water : The Luminaire 6 March 2011

Johnny Flynn and his sister, Lillie, perform The Water live at the Luminaire, Kilburn on Sunday 6 March 2011. Johnny's headline Transgressive show was part of the venue's 'Wake Week'. Sadly, this great venue officially closed its doors in December, and is a great loss to the London live music scene. Wake Week, which ran from 2-7 March, was one last chance to say farewell to the 'Lumi' and see it off in style! Other artists taking part in Wake Week included Dry The River, The Fence Collective, Peggy Sue and The Mariner's Children. The original version of The Water can be found on Johnny Flynn's second album, 'Been Listening' (Transgressive), where the harmony vocals are provided by Laura Marling. This was an exceptionally lovely performance. Johnny & Lillie's harmonies were really quite exquisite, making it without doubt my favourite live version of this song so far! Update, Summer 2012: Both Johnny and Lillie Flynn are also actors. Johnny is currently appearing in Richard III & Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Globe; Lillie plays Nessa in the London West End production of Wicked.
