1980: When Blue Peter Broadcast from an Empty Studio | BBC Archive
Here’s one they didn’t make earlier. When an industrial dispute at Television Centre left the Blue Peter studio devoid of both furniture and sets, the plucky presenters sat on the floor and presented the entire programme from an empty studio. Goldie the dog was clearly enjoying the extra space, while Sarah Greene, Simon Groom and Peter Duncan used the opening item to explain what a cyclorama is and how without it the studio doesn’t look quite so nice and tidy. Clip taken from Blue Pete, originally broadcast on BBC One, 15 September 1980. You have now entered the BBC Archive, a time machine that will transport you back to the golden age of TV to educate, entertain and enlighten you with classic clips from the BBC vaults.
