Trisomy 18 baby birth and death. Heartbreaking story of love and loss. Died in my arms 10 weeks old.

@Magisto This is the story of our little baby girl Gaia Journey Oliver- Brooke. She lived from 30.07.18 - 10.10.18. She was born with Trisomy 18 or Edwards Syndrome and she died. But, we had no idea, we thought she was healthy and I had many scans. Nothing was every picked up. My blood results were 1:7000 for T18 despite being 42 years old. My pregnancy was hard, but after 16 years i was just so happy to have her. Thankfully she made it to 37 weeks gestation, most of these babies are born still. Due to slow growth, which was not picked up as a serious issue, she was delivered by C section. Thankfully she was resuscitated at birth, only because no one knew she was sick. She had 4 older siblings who loved and adored her beyond belief. She has left a huge hole in our hearts and the grief at times is unbearable. I am posting this 4 months after her passing. I have made this video not only to allow Gaia to make her presence known to the world, but also to raise awareness of T18. These babies have just as much right to life as any other and yet here in the UK they are denied it. Gaia died from a common cold as her doctors felt that she was 'incompatible with life' and would not continue with medical interventions. These interventions would have been routinely offered to any other baby and may have given us precious time together. I do not wish to be bitter or angry as that is not what she would have wanted from me. I only want the medical profession (of which I am part of) to see, that with the right care they can live and lead happy lives, for as long as they choose to. We need to change our perception and our acceptance. I love you Gaia and I want everyone to know you came, you lived and you were loved. I feel her legacy was to learn to love unconditionally and without prejudice. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and I needed to learn that. But still she was perfect, she knew us all, she fed, she was hungry, she smiled, she was entertained by stimulating toys - she LIVED! We can't always have control over our life and Gaia came to teach us that.
