Mapping the transparent brain with iDISCO+, ClearMap, and light sheet imaging
Presented By: Nicolas Renier Speaker Biography: After obtaining his master's degree at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, Nicolas Renier trained in developmental biology in the lab of Alain Chédotal at the Vision Institute in Paris. His work focused on the developmental plasticity of commissural projections, using mouse genetics. For his post-doc, he went to the lab of Marc Tessier-Lavigne at the Rockefeller University in New York. There he co-developed the iDISCO and ClearMap platform for the labeling, imaging, and analysis of intact biological samples using light sheet microscopy and tissue clearing. He established his own lab at the Paris Brain Institute in January 2017. Webinar: Mapping the transparent brain with iDISCO+, ClearMap, and light sheet imaging Webinar Abstract: Dr. Nicolas Renier and his colleagues developed the iDISCO+ and ClearMap technologies to facilitate the study of the structure and cellular networks in the intact adult brain with automated quantitative methods. Together with light sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM), these technologies enable whole brain 3D imaging and detailed quantitative mapping. iDISCO+ is a complete sample preparation method that enables whole-mount immunolabeling and high-performance optical clearing of adult brain or any other organ. ClearMap is an open-source software program for the unsupervised mapping of neuronal activity, neuronal projections, and the vascular networks of the brain. These technologies form a pipeline for high-speed acquisition of brain structure and activity at cellular resolution. Earn PACE Credits: 1.
