Another installment of a deep political dispute and a violent escalation of emotions in central Warsaw. During the commemorations of the 195th anniversary of the Smolensk disaster, held on July 10, 2026, at Marshal Józef Piłsudski Square, dangerous incidents and physical clashes occurred between participants and counter-protesters. A scuffle broke out in the crowd, during which one man attacked another participant with a metal tripod. After attempting to escape, the attacker was quickly subdued and detained by police officers. These events sparked a sharp reaction from the chairman of the Law and Justice party, Jarosław Kaczyński, who was present at the scene. He accused the security forces of acting on political orders and allowing attacks on the wreath-laying delegation.
