Pompeii: Total Destruction | Fixed-Camera Timelapse And Simulation

A street in the center of Pompeii during the final hours of the city and eruption in 79 CE. In this special mini episode and documentary, unlike our full city timelapses, I focus on the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction it brought to Pompeii. At first, life continues as usual. Shops are open, people move through the streets, and the city still carries the scars of earlier earthquakes. Then the sky darkens. Ash and pumice begin to fall, slowly burying roofs, courtyards, streets, and homes under a growing weight of volcanic debris. As the eruption intensifies, the city becomes unrecognizable. Waves of scorching volcanic material sweep through Pompeii, sealing the city beneath layers of ash and preserving its final moments for nearly two thousand years. The viewpoint throughout the video is set on a fictional market street of Pompeii. Please note: This is an artistic interpretation of how Pompeii may have evolved and ultimately been destroyed. I have done my best to make the reconstruction as historically accurate as possible, while adding some fictional elements to make the timelapse more engaging. Some mistakes, simplifications, and inaccuracies may remain, but they are unavoidable in a project of this kind. How it’s made: ✔ Researched the timeline of the disaster and examined how the volcanic eruption destroyed Pompeii. (see “Sources & Research” below) ✔ Designed the storyboard, historical progression, and pacing of the location through time ✔ Generated and refined the street model with AI tools, always from the exact same perspective ✔ Populated each scene with people, animals, and traffic using AI ✔ Animated each frame, then edited, composited, and refined details in post-production ✔ Added sound design and music 📝Sources & Research: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eruptio... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii 🎵 Music credits: 'Clear Skies' by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0. www.scottbuckley.com.au 'Desperation' by Scott Buckley - released under CC-BY 4.0. www.scottbuckley.com.au Thanks to Top Supporter Members: @kaijus-dinosaursfan4ever @2013do
