How Drug Culture Influenced the Muppets
The Muppets came to be during the 1970s during a time when drug culture was prevalent and stoner comedy was a brand new genre of film. Comedy and comedians have always influenced each other, but rarely do I ever hear anyone talk about the Muppets and their association with drug culture and stoner comedy despite it being so noticeable throughout their existence. After the success of Cheech and Chong, the Muppets became even more influenced by it and thanks to 2023's The Muppets Mayhem the influences continue on, hopefully influencing the next set of comedians and comedy.
