The mysterious title “72 Girl From The Newline” wasn’t artistic at all: it’s exactly how the track appeared on the studio’s computer screens and console monitors, most likely the internal file name assigned by the recording software to catalog the session. At this stage, the piece was a work in progress — no lyrics yet, just Zucchero’s signature “Zuccherese”, a stream of melodic, English-sounding syllables that convey emotion instead of meaning. However, Zucchero’s composition shares no musical or lyrical connection with Holiday’s piece. The resemblance lies only in the title, which may have served as a subtle homage or inspiration, reflecting a similar spirit of introspection and grace.
