Celebration in the homeland of the watermelon. The Dăbuleni Research Station celebrated the most beloved fruit of the summer: the watermelon. The event brought together farmers, researchers and officials, who after the communication session went directly to the field to evaluate the new varieties approved on sandy soils. The day had a strong emotional charge, with the launch of the book dedicated to Professor Petre Baniță, the visionary founder of the station. The watermelon celebration transformed the Dăbuleni Research Station into a true showcase of agricultural excellence, where the 67 years of work of the specialists was given its place of honor. The highlight of the day was the visit to the experimental field. Participants were able to see the approved watermelon varieties up close right here in Dăbuleni. They are specially created to withstand extreme drought and sandy soil, while offering an extremely sweet and juicy core. Beyond technology and agriculture, the celebration was also an occasion for gratitude. During the event, a bibliographic book dedicated to Professor Petre Baniță, who founded the resort more than six decades ago and transformed the Oltenia desert into a fertile oasis, was launched. The new approved varieties are already ready to conquer the Romanian markets.
