President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke this Monday (13) at the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE), in São José dos Campos (SP), where he defended increased investments in the National Defense sector. The PT member justified the measure by pointing to the interest of global powers such as the United States, China and Russia in strategic resources of the Brazilian subsoil and territorial sea, such as critical minerals and rare earths. Reaffirming that the country does not seek conflicts, Lula declared that the existence of the Armed Forces should not be limited to the payment of pensions, but rather actively guarantee the sovereignty of the borders and the pre-salt oil reserves.
