The TMNT Game We Should Have Had: The NES Original Is No Longer Terrible !?
The original 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the NES has a notorious reputation. While it sold incredibly well, it became legendary for making players miserable with awkward jumps, an infamous swimming stage, broken boss camping spots, and a wildly overpowered Donatello. It often felt like it was actively fighting its own comic-book fantasy. TMNT: Return to New York, a massive ROM hack and rescue operation created by romhacker guitarpalooz. This serious rebalance and remaster completely addresses the flaws of the original NES version. By embedding unique character stats, adding on-the-fly character swapping, fixing the notorious underwater controls, rewriting the text for better story cohesion, and rebalancing the roster, this project finally delivers the TMNT game we always deserved. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joining Russly helps support the channel and unlocks fun perks like custom badges & emojis, early access to videos, member shout-outs, and occasional behind-the-scenes updates.
