Met / Honigwein nach einem Rezept von 1580 selber machen - Teil 1 - Die Methalle

For years, I've been searching for old mead recipes to present to you, with a modern interpretation, on my channel. So, I've searched through more than two dozen old books on winemaking and honey processing from the 16th to 19th centuries for mead recipes, and I've found what I'm looking for. Today, I'll show you a recipe for a honey wine from 1580 and prepare the brewing process. But we'll also take a quick look at the other old recipes and examine them for similarities. 📜 Recipe for 20 liters of mead / honey wine from 1580: 📌 For the starter: 20 liters of fermentation vessel, airlock, and rubber stopper 4 kg of blossom honey from the beekeeper 7 g Mangrove Jacks M05 mead yeast 6 g of yeast nutrient (not shown in this video) 10 g of dried and chopped ginger root 10 g of cinnamon sticks 5 g of cloves 10 g of dried and chopped galangal root 10 g of nutmeg (about 2 pieces) 10 g of citric acid 2 g of tannin for winemaking 📌 For the final sweetening, you'll need about 3 kg of wild chestnut honey.
