Hirakud Dam Alert: First Flood waters of the Season to be Released on July 9 Hirakud Dam authorities have announced that the season's first floodwaters will be released on July 9 at 11:00 AM after traditional rituals. The decision comes after a massive inflow of water from Chhattisgarh, where 46 gates of the Kalma Barrage have been opened due to heavy rains. Currently, water is gushing into the reservoir at 2,36,000 cusecs per second, pushing the water level to 607.29 feet.
