Ingredients for making Aveli: 1 cup flattened rice (Aveli) 1/2 cup grated coconut 3 nos. banana (medium) 1/3 cup sugar (or to taste) Directions: Dry roast flattened rice on low heat until slight change in colour. Once done remove to a plate and let it cool down. Grate the coconut In a mixing bowl add banana and sugar. Mix and mash it well. Add grated coconut, and mix well. Add dry roasted flattened rice and mix well. Add it gradually so that you can adjust the consisteny. Enjoy! ..................................................................................... Ingredients for making maafuh: 3/4 cup finger millet flour / binbi maafuh 2 nos. banana 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup grated coconut dry roast it 3-5 mins on low to medium heat or until slight change in colour at the bottom of the pan. You can also smell it's nutty aroma. Once done, turn off the heat and continue stiring for few mins to avoid further cooking or transfer it to a plate and let it cool down. If you are buying pre roasted finger millet flour you can skip this step. In a mixing bowl add banana and sugar. Mix and mash it well. Add grated coconut, and mix well Gradually add finger millet flour to your desired consistency. The mixture is not too wet or not too dry. Once everything is well combined, scoop out around 1 tbsp of the mixture and start forming balls. Enjoy ...................................................................................... Ingredients for making banbukeyo bondibai: 6 cups breadfruit 3 cups sugar (or to taste) 4 nos. pandan leaf piece (3") 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp cardamon powder 1/2 cup thick coconut milk 2 tbsp rose water Apply oil on you hands. Helps with easier cleaning after touching the breadfruit. Cut breadfruit into 4 pieces vertically. Remove skin and remove any greenish pieces on it too. It tends to be bitter. Remove the core of the breadfruit. Cut breadfruit into small cubes of approximately 1cm or smaller than that. You can cut it the way shown in the video. Or cut directly without removing the core. Put slices horizontally and vertically around the breadfruit pieces of approximately 1 cm l and then start cutting from outside of the breadfruit till it reaches the core. Once done, wash it well and drain it. Put the breadfruit pieces on a pot and add water just above the breadfruit pieces. Approximately 4-6 cups. Cook till breadfruit pieces are cooked. Soft inside but not mushy. You can use your fingers or eat it. Or use a fork. It will go through easily once it is cooked. Cooking time varies depending on the ripeness of the breadfruit. Once it is cooked, drain the water and place it in the same pot for further cooking. Add sugar to taste and pandan leaves. Mix it slightly. Add cinnamon and cardamon powder. Let it cook on low to medium heat till it is thickened and no more liquid in it. Takes around 15-25 mins. Stir occasionally. Once thickened, add thick coconut milk and rose water.
