Toyota Lexus 2UZ-FE Starter Replacement (With the Secondary Air Injection System 2005-2011) (Part 2)

The vehicle we were working on is a 2008 Lexus GX470. In 2005, VVT (Variable Valve Timing) was added to the engine, and along with it, the secondary air injection system. The secondary air injection complicates the removal of the starter, mainly due to the #2 switching valves that bolt to the water bypass joint at the back of the engine. For 2UZ engines 2004 and earlier, you won't have the secondary air injection system and you'll have an easier time replacing the starter. **You know how the silicone paste on the water bypass pipe o-ring caused a coolant leak at the connection to the water pump. Well, I was looking through the timing belt video we did on the 2UZ-FE engine, actually Thanh's engine, and I noticed I used some silicone paste on that o-ring before we put the water pump on. Why did the silicone paste work as an o-ring lubricant on that occasion but caused a leak for this occasion.
