Melted rock forts of Scotland

Vitrified stone forts, made of melted rock, can be found in Scotland. Needing temperatures of over 2500c to melt the rock. How did the ancient Scots do it? My father carried out an experiment to show how anyone can melt rock using two common ingredients.
