Day 15: Superior to Missoula MT

Cycled from Superior to Missoula MT as part of my Great American Rail Trail bicycle touring across the country. Light with some moderate rain for most of the ride. Scenic views of the St Regis River and Lolo National Forest. The route follows I-90 frontage roads with 3 brief sections on I-90 itself. “Pangaea River Rafting” called me over as I cycled by and offered me water and a break. Very friendly. Pleasantly surprised to discover “Buck N Bull coffee shop” in Alberton. Had a Coffee and Muffin to keep me warm and fueled. Then more coffee and a Snack at “Larry’s 6 mile bar”. Then rode the A.J. Hoyt Memorial trail to Wye. Very scenic. Given the frequent stops and layering strategy, I stayed comfortable riding in the cool rain. After Wye, my route took me near the Missoula airport, riding by the National Museum of Forest Service history and also the Missoula smokeJumper welcome center. Wanted to stop into both but skipped to capture a lull in the rain.
