HARRY NILSSON "Playboy After Dark" (30th August 1968)
2:30 Good Old Desk 5:52 Together 14:56 Cast and Crew (from Skidoo) A short clip of this can be seen in John Scheinfeld's wonderful documentary "Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)?" - but this is the entire guest spot Harry made on Playboy After Dark, originally transmitted on 30th August 1968. Harry guests with Otto Preminger, the Director of the film "Skidoo", a few months before its release. Harry had composed the score for the film and appears in it briefly as a tower guard. It's interesting to see the relationship between the Director (quite famous and powerful at that time) and his young protege at the time. It was during the making of "Skidoo" that Harry flew over to England for a few days to meet his idols, The Beatles. Otto Preminger had paid for the flight from the film's budget, provided that Harry could persuade them to feature in the film! (See Alyn Shipton's excellent biography "Nilsson: The Life Of A SInger/Songwriter"). I have sourced this, as I have many of the uploads on this channel, from a Nilsson DVD set that has been doing the rounds for a few years - you'll find it if you know where to look! I am indebted to the person who put that together. I have just cleaned up the picture a little bit.
