Paddy on the Turnpike
My favorite tunes to play are ones that I've learned directly from other fiddlers, especially the elder players who are now long gone. Here's on that I learned from Melvin Wine (1909-2003), of Braxton County, West Virginia. I won't go deep into Melvin's bio here, except to say that fiddling had a long history in the Wine family; Melvin's repertoire included a number of tunes passed down via his great-grandfather and his father, as well as tunes he learned from other fiddlers in the area. I treasure every tune that I've learned from Melvin Wine. I'll definitely be posting video tutorials for Melvin Wine tunes on my soon-to-be-launched Front Porch Fiddle School on Patreon!
