EXCLUSIVE: Australia Post boss Christine Holgate was ‘railroaded’ and wants her job back

Former Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate “never officially resigned” and wants her job back as the board and the Morrison government tries to “railroad her,” according to One Nation leader Pauline Hanson. Ms Holgate came under fire late last year after gifting Cartier watches to key executives at Australia Post as Christmas bonuses which was all up valued at over $20,000. Prime Minister Scott Morrison publicly derided the bonuses and demanded the chief executive step aside. Senator Hanson has called for a Senate inquiry into the scandal and Ms Holgate’s subsequent treatment. She told Sky News Ms Holgate never actually resigned to the Chair of Australia Post, Lucio Di Bartolomeo, and said he falsely told the media that “she’s offered her resignation”. “She wants her job back, she’s never resigned, she went in to to see the chair, she handed him a statement saying listen we need to come to some ending with it,” Senator Hanson said. “What they’re trying to do is railroad her. They want her to do an amendment to her contract, the amendment states you will not get paid, you will not be able to get employed for 12 months you will never be able to speak about this again. “They want to shut her down completely”. Ms Hanson said her inquiry will aim to reinstate Christine Holgate as Chief Executive of Australia Post after she was “thrown under the bus”. “The prime minister needs to eat his words, be the man, be the leader of this nation, and offer that poor woman an apology and offer her back her position”.
