I CLIMBED the UKs TALLEST travelling fairground ride! But Why? | Matthews Skyfall - The Open Climb

Join me for a VERY different video! Today, I climb the UKs TALLEST travelling fairground ride, Matthews Skyfall Drop Tower. At 80 meters tall, someone's got to do the checks haven't they! So let's go see what Tom Matthews does EVERY morning, before he can operate the ride to the public. DISCLAIMER: This experience of the morning check and/or climb is not a public experience, nor is it something you can request. Checks were done during the filming, and was an invited experience during our stay at the Kirkcaldy Links Market April 2026 Theo was present in the video, however in a safe location of the rear extension of the control room. Theo features pressing and releasing the emergency stop button and pressing the drop button, under a fully controlled environment. As seen, the computer recognises the test complete of the emergency stop button test. Theo was not authorised to enter the platform whilst the gondola was of height, or climb any part of the ride during the checks. A chest mount was used to film footage from ladder climb, until return. The 360 was also attached to my belt. Nothing was held in hand, that had a risk of falling. A full harness and clip was used, and I remained on the far side of the platform during the whole climb and descent. Filmed on the insta360 ace pro 2 with the feature of the insta360 X4 360 camera, which can be seen on our TikTok, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts.
