𝗝𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗬 𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗣: Agencies Move In During Marina del Rey Cleanup

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. — Friday, May 29, 2026 — City crews conducted a coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation Friday morning along the Marina del Rey Jetty as agencies continued sanitation and public-access efforts in the heavily used coastal corridor. During the operation, crews contacted an individual camping along the sidewalk near the jetty and advised him to gather his belongings and clear the area so cleanup activities could proceed. In accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code §56.11, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (ECI) provided a 60-gallon bag and informed him that he could retain up to 60 gallons of personal property. The individual consolidated his belongings within the allowable limit, and excess items were discarded as part of the cleanup. He complied with instructions and cleared the area without incident. No arrests or citations were reported. The operation brought together Park Ranger Security Services personnel, Environmental Compliance Inspectors, the Department of Public Works, LA County Beaches and Harbors, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, and a homeless coordinator from the office of Councilwoman Traci Park. LA County Beaches and Harbors crews removed accumulated trash and bulky debris from the area, while Clean Harbors personnel handled the collection and disposal of hazardous materials identified during the operation. Park Ranger Security Services personnel remained on scene to monitor compliance and maintain public access throughout the cleanup. Officials describe the coordinated efforts as part of ongoing work to address sanitation concerns, maintain public access, and enforce municipal regulations governing the storage of personal property in public spaces along the coast.
