In the Rostov region, 77% of the area occupied by winter wheat has been threshed to date. The average crop yield in the region has decreased from 35.6 to 25.9 centners per hectare. The lowest figures are in the Azovsky, Kuibyshevsky and Matveyevo-Kurgansky districts, where they thresh an average of 12-15 centners per hectare. Incidentally, since July 21, the Yegorlyksky and Matveyevo-Kurgansky districts have been added to the list of municipalities where a drought emergency regime is in effect. By now, the Rostov Region has harvested 5.3 million tons of wheat, while last year the harvest exceeded 9.4 million tons of wheat. The region's governor, Yuri Slyusar, predicts that 8 million tons of grain crops will be harvested in the Don this year, while they initially planned to get 11.4 million tons. The yield for all grain crops is 24.4 centners per hectare, while last year it exceeded 33 centners per hectare. The Southern, Azov and Central Irrigated Zones showed the greatest decrease compared to last year. It is obvious that this season will be the hardest for farms in these territories, where traditionally a lot of financial resources were invested in mineral fertilizers and land lease. Data from Krasnodar Krai is not published as promptly as in Rostov Oblast, so we rely on information from July 15. After harvesting 72% of winter wheat, the crop yield was 46.3 c/ha, last year the figure was higher - 64.7 c/ha. The gross harvest reached 8.5 million tons, and it is absolutely clear that Kuban will not receive the previous 10 million tons of wheat. It should be noted that last week, on the instructions of the governor, a regional state of emergency was declared within the boundaries of Yeisk, Kanevsky, Krylovsky, Kushchevsky, Pavlovsky, Starominsky and Shcherbinovsky districts, as well as in the Primorsko-Akhtarsky and Leningradsky municipal districts. The head of the ProZerno company, Vladimir Petrichenko, called the harvest results in the Don, Kuban and Crimea "a serious failure in yield", but noted that the situation with yield in the Black Earth Region and the Volga region is "relatively positive". "But not in all regions. For example, in the Voronezh and Belgorod regions there is practically no positive, in the Kursk, Lipetsk and Tambov regions the situation is better," Vladimir Petrichenko clarified. Nevertheless, the June harvest forecast has been reduced by one million tons and now ProZerno gives the most pessimistic estimate of the gross grain harvest. The forecast does not take into account new territories. The most optimistic view is that of the Ministry of Agriculture, which does not deviate from the 135 million tons announced six months ago. "Of course, there are difficulties with the weather - in certain regions we have a severe drought, in certain regions we are flooded, we cannot start harvesting, but nevertheless, for now we are maintaining our forecast - 135 million tons of grain in total and 88-90 million tons of wheat," said Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
