Students at Oxford: As a reward for capturing a bank robber, Stan and Ollie receive scholarships to study at Oxford, but they encounter resentment from the other students. There, they become the victims of student pranks, get lost in the university's maze, and take over the dean's rooms as if they were their own; but then, a blow to the head transforms Stan into the famous Lord Paddington, a brilliant scholar and extraordinary athlete. This film was released as one of Hal Roach's streamlined shorts, without the Finlayson episode, and with its current running time. The guys are in top form, repurposing their old jokes for new ends, and Stan proves he can play a different comedic character for the first time since their first short film together. Because of the dinner scene, this film has an episodic feel: a double feature with Finlayson, a single feature as janitors, a double feature during hazing, and a single feature where Stan plays a genie.
