ഇന്ത്യ സ്വന്തമായി നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുന്ന യുദ്ധ വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ തന്നെ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച ഒരു എന്‍ജിന്‍ വേണമെന്ന സ്വപ്നം. ആ സ്വപ്നത്തിന് വര്‍ഷങ്ങളുടെ പഴക്കമുണ്ട്. ആ പദ്ധതിയാണ് 'കാവേരി'. ഇപ്പോഴിതാ ആ ദൃഢനിശ്ചയം ഒടുവില്‍ വിജയത്തോട് അടുക്കുകയാണ്. പലവട്ടം പരാജയപ്പെട്ട കാവേരി 2.0 പദ്ധതിയാണ് സഫലമാകാന്‍ പോകുന്നത്. 70 ശതമാനത്തോളം പൂര്‍ത്തിയായ ഈ പദ്ധതി എന്‍ജിന്‍ ആഫ്റ്റര്‍ ബര്‍ണര്‍ പരീക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരുങ്ങുക ആണെന്ന റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പുറത്ത് വരുന്നത്. India's long-standing ambition to develop a fully indigenous fighter jet engine is moving closer to reality. After years of challenges, the Kaveri Engine 2.0 project is reportedly nearing a major milestone, with the engine preparing for afterburner testing after achieving around 70% completion. Developed by DRDO's Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), the Kaveri Engine has been one of India's most ambitious defence technology projects.
