Non mancano gli incontri. Manca il futuro. Perché oggi è difficile costruire una storia che duri
Zygmunt Bauman and Anthony Giddens have shown how modernity has radically transformed intimacy: no longer an institution, but a continuous negotiation. But what happens when, in adulthood, the desire for permanence encounters a culture of permanent reversibility? Adult solitude is not the absence of relationships: it is the difficulty of projectual convergence. And the question becomes demanding. In this philosophical foray, we address a crucial issue of late modernity: why is it so difficult today to build a lasting story? Through the analyses of Zygmunt Bauman, Anthony Giddens, Eva Illouz, Christopher Lasch, Erich Fromm, and Byung-Chul Han, we analyze the transformation of intimacy: from relationship as institution to relationship as negotiated choice, from promise to reversibility, from freedom as autonomy to freedom as the possibility of escape. It is not nostalgia. It is not moral judgment. It is a phenomenological analysis of adult solitude: not a lack of encounters, but the difficulty of converging over time. What do we really mean today when we talk about "serious history"? Key phrase Modernity has freed the bond from obligation, but exposed it to the fragility of decision. 🎧 Recommended Playlist CLINIC OF THE PRESENT 👉 • CLINICA DEL PRESENTE Support the project 💳 Free donation to support the channel: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/confi... 📝 "Active student" subscription (previews of lectures and reserved materials): / @scorribandefilosofiche 🔔 Subscribe to the channel to not miss the next Philosophical Excursions: / channel Books by Prof. Dipalo 📚 Official page with all the latest information: https://francescodipalo.wordpress.com... 📘 Philosophy in the Garden (Epicureanism), paper/ebook, YCP 2025 https://francescodipalo.wordpress.com... 📘 Free Inside (Epictetus), paper/ebook, YCP 2024 https://francescodipalo.wordpress.com... 📘 The Crutch (Existential Novel), ebook, YCP 2023 https://francescodipalo.wordpress.com... 📘 Philosophy under the Portico (Stoicism), paper/ebook, YCP 2023 https://francescodipalo.wordpress.com...
