Today we look at Anti-Vacuum & Safety Valves for your Espresso machine - Find out what they are and why we need them in our machines Anti-Vacuum Valve: These allow oxygen to enter the boilers until pressure builds in the boiler (i.e. as the temperature rises in the boiler the steam creates pressure). Once pressure builds, it pushes the valve up and shuts the valve. They are usually 1/4" male thread All commercial machines have these valves, the difference is the thread size. Safety Valve : These valves release the steam pressure from the boiler (usually if it reaches 1.5 bars) if the pressure stat fails to cut off the element.
