Robert Redford has been a huuuge presence in some of my favorite old films, so I thought I'd pull some of his old filmography out to illustrate, perhaps, the kind of relationship he might have had with Bucky through the years. I think he would have been a cocky son of a bitch when he was younger, and he probably enjoyed his power over Bucky immensely. But there's no sadism in Pierce's villainy. Only the detachment of a god using his instrument. And that's scary shit. I loved the idea that Bucky may have confused Pierce and Steve's faces in the past, allowing Pierce to use him because he somehow internalized that it was Steve asking him to do these things. I hope that's communicated coherently in the video, especially at Bucky's breaking point. Originally it was going to feature Steve and his battle with depression, but I switched it to Bucky's POV and his fraught relationship with Pierce. Enjoy!
