Instagram: @meijuknits Facebook: Meiju Knits #meijuknits #knitting #knittingpatterns #knitweardesign #topdownknitting Photos in the intro/outro: Tanu Kallio, Instagram @tanukallio Featured design: Artist Hat Yarn: You need 3 colors of fingering weight yarn and one lace weight mohair yarn to achieve a sport weight gauge.  Sample yarn: Wool Me Once Fibers Merino Single (100% superwash merino), 100g/366m/400yds sample yardage: color 1 Aslan, sample yardage approx. 17 g ~ 70 m/77 yds color 2 Waiting for Henry,  17 g ~ 70 m/77 yds color 3 Solar Flare, sample yardage approx. 15 g ~ 55m/61 yds Wool Me Once Fibers Kid Mohair Silk (72% Goat - Mohair, 28% Silk) 50g/420m/459 yds - sample yardage approx. 16 g ~ 130 m/138 yds Needles: US 2.5/3mm needles for the brim & US 6/4 mm needles for the body of the hat Gauge:21 sts & 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm(4x4 inches) in Stockinette stitch using larger (US6/4mm) needles working one fingering weight and lace weight yarn together. Other: Stitch markers (5 pieces), Tapestry needle, Tape measure, Scissors, Crochet hook: US 2.5/3mm Abbreviations: BOR=beginning of a rnd dec=decrease k=knit k2tog=knit 2 sts together, decrease p=purl pm=place marker rep=repeat rnd=round sm=slip marker ssk=slip, slip, knit; slip one st as if to knit, slip second stitch as if to knit, knit slipped sts together through the back loop, decrease St st=stockinette st, knit in the round Directions: With smaller (US 2.5/3 mm) needles, CO 104 sts with color 1. Use crochet CO technique (or preferred method). Make sure that your CO isn't too tight. Join in the round and join the kid mohair silk yarn and work it together with the fingering weight yarn. Pm to indicate the beginning of a rnd. Work k1, p1 ribbing for 1.25"/3cm. Switch to larger (US 6/4 mm) needles. Knit (in St st) approx. 1.25-3"/3-8 cm or desired length.Cut the color 1 and join color 2. Work color 2 together with silk mohair yarn 3"/8 cm or desired length. The sample hat length before 3rd color is 7.5 inches/19 cm.  Crown shaping: Cut the color 2 and join the color 3. Setup rnd: Sm (BOR marker), k8, pm1, k36, pm2, k16, pm3, k36, pm4, k8. Decrease rnd 1: Sm (BOR marker), k to m1, sm, k2tog, k to 2 sts bef m2, ssk, sm, k to next m3, sm, k2tog, k to 2 sts bef m4, ssk, sm, k to end.  K 1 rnd.  Decrease rnd 2: (As dec rnd 1) Sm (BOR marker), *k to m1, sm, k2tog, k to 2 sts bef m2, ssk, sm*, rep *-* (working to markers 3&4) once, k to end.  K 1 rnd. Change to a longer needle for magic loop technique or to dpns.  Rep dec rnd 2 on every rnd until you have only 2 sts left between markers 1 and 2 and between markers 3 and 4. (Between markers 2 and 4 and between markers 4 and 1 there are still 16 sts). Next rnd: *K2tog*, rep *-* to end. Remove all markers except BOR. Next rnd: *K2tog*, rep *-* to end. Cut both yarns. Pull it through the remaining sts, pull tight to secure. Weave ends. Music: bensound.com
