Dienel - Mache dich, mein Geist, bereit - Walcker/Eule organ, Annaberg, Hauptwerk

Otto Dienel was a German organist and composer. Dienel worked from 1877 to 1898 as a music teacher at the Berlin seminary for city school teachers. Among his most famous students was Thomaskantor Karl Straube. He was also involved in the Berliner Organistenverein. He was chairman from 1895 to 1902. Dienel campaigned above all for protection against dismissal, employment for life and pension entitlement for organists. (source: Wikipedia) I recorded one of his 43 Choralvorspiele, no. 20 on the hymn 'Mache dich, mein Geist, bereit'. To me, this is one of the highlights of Dienel's organ works. The use of triplets, also in the cantus firmus, works quite well. Playing it on this organ model, using the beautiful Clarinet (a free reed), also helps.
