In 1985, he specialized in Psychiatry at the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Padua. As a young man, he met Franco Basaglia, becoming close to his anti-psychiatric positions.[3] After working at the Arezzo psychiatric hospital, he left Italy to move to Chandigarh, India, for three years, and then to Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.[4] He later taught in Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, and at the Harvard Center for European Studies; he then decided to return to Italy to follow Basaglia in Rome.[5] A frequent guest on television, he is a popularizer and commentator on numerous programs. In 2013, he was president of the Jury of Literary Men of the Campiello Prize.[6] As a writer, he won the 2015 La Tore Isola d'Elba Literary Award for lifetime achievement. Paolo Crepet, born in Trieste in 1951, has become a famous Italian psychiatrist, writer, and psychotherapist. Crepet is well-known for his contributions to the fields of psychology and philosophy, as well as for his opinions on cultural and social issues. He also speaks as an expert on psychology on numerous Italian television programs and collaborates with various newspapers and magazines.
