Western Maryland 1309 on the Frostburg Flyer - Western Maryland Scenic Railroad - October 19, 2025

Hey y'all, welcome back! In today's video, I revisited the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad for a chase of the Frostburg Flyer train in Fall colors. Western Maryland Scenic Railroad 1309 is an H-6 articulated 2-6-6-2 steam locomotive from the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad, and the last steam engine built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works (1949). The engine originally hauled coal trains in the mountains of West Virginia and Kentucky, but as dieselization took over, 1309 was removed from C&O service in 1956. Thankfully, this engine is one that was preserved and is now in operating condition on the Western Maryland for tourism. The Frostburg Flyer train, which takes tourists between Cumberland and Frostburg, is a great one to ride or chase, especially in fall colors, because of all the scenery and landmarks along the way. There's also a bike trail to follow the railroad on. Since my first video at Western Maryland, much has been changed for the better, like the train consist in its matching "circus" paint scheme, and the "hooter" whistle on 1309 being re-tuned.
